Bob Hayes is a Director of Photography in the motion picture Industry. He has shot nine scripted television series, 40 feature films, and numerous Non-Fiction projects including “Wine Revealed”. His mentor, British Cinematographer Dick Bush BSC once told him, “Make the women look glamorous and the men look rugged and you will do great”. It worked. Bob became known for his glamorous lighting while shooting a television series starring Connie Sellecca and went on to shoot another Glen Larson series starring Cheryl Ladd. His series “Pacific Blue” was the number one drama on cable TV for four years. Some of the talent Bob has worked with include President Ronald Reagan and President Bill Clinton, Kim Kardashian, Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, Whoopie Goldberg, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kirk Douglas, Michael Douglas, Anthony Quin, Tony Curtis, Michael Shannon, Johnny Knoxville, William Shatner, Spike Lee, Robert Kennedy Jr, Elton John, Bob Marley, Cheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, Snoop Dawg, Dwight Yokum, Mic Fleetwood, Kurt Vonnegut, and David Hockney. He has made films in over thirty-five countries including China, Thailand, Vietnam, South Africa, Samoa, New Zealand, Mauritius, and numerous Islands in the Caribbean As a documentary filmmaker Bob has photographed the birth of a Killer Whale, open heart surgeries, and the re-uniting and Japanese and American soldiers on Iwo Jima. In his work with the FAA he filmed the controlled crash of a 727. In addition to work as a Cinematographer he specializes in underwater cinematography and is an FAA licensed drone operator. He loves visual effects and currently is developing projects using the “Unreal Engine”. He has written and directed two Theatrical films. Growing up in a Hollywood Family he was inspired by his Grandfather, character actor William Forrest, who appeared in over 275 films. Bob started shooting films when he was twelve years old. Bob loves teaching his craft and as the son of the Dean of the UCLA Library school you might say it is in his blood.
